With ReportWORQ’s new automatic Repository Metadata Report, accessing and understanding your repository data is now one click away. Whether you need a detailed view of your jobs or a list of all the metadata used, this feature will provide you with everything you need, making it simpler to manage and review your repository’s contents.
To begin, simply navigate to the Administration Page → Configuration → Backup, where you’ll find the First Button on the Right (as shown in the image below)
Clicking this button will instantly download your personalized metadata report to your computer, providing you with all the essential data you need for easy reference and analysis.
What’s Included in the Report:
- Jobs: The first report sheet presents a detailed list of all the jobs in your repository, along with the associated data used in each job.
- Job Insights: Going through the report you will find more details about each job’s associated reports and the sheets used in those reports.
- Parameters: The report includes two separate parameter sheets. One sheet provides the parameters used across all jobs, while the other details parameters specific to individual jobs, reports, and sheets.
- Static Burst Sets: This sheet refers to all the static burst sets and any metadata that is associated with each one.
- Schedule: A comprehensive list of all scheduled jobs, along with their names, frequencies, and additional useful data.
- Contacts: A page dedicated to listing all your contacts.
Organization and Navigation:
The report is designed with user-friendliness in mind. It’s organized to allow smooth navigation through various sections. Hyperlinks are embedded throughout the document, allowing you to easily jump to the associated job or report, making it faster and more efficient to locate key information.
What can you do with this report?
The Repository Metadata Report provides information that can help you gain insights into your ReportWORQ jobs and their associated data. Below are some useful ways to leverage this report:
- By filtering the Parameters worksheet, you can quickly identify all the jobs that utilize IBM Planning Analytics Subsets.
- By filtering the Reports worksheet’s IsScheduled and DistributionType columns, you can easily find all the jobs that send scheduled email reports. This is particularly useful for monitoring automated communications or verifying email-based reporting processes.
- By filtering distinct values in the File Path column of the Reports worksheet, you can generate a comprehensive list of all the Excel files that are used by ReportWORQ jobs. This is beneficial for inventory management or for tracking all report files.
- The Schedule worksheet includes a comprehensive list of all scheduled jobs, including their frequencies. Filtering by frequency can help you identify and review jobs running at specific intervals, aiding in troubleshooting or optimizing job scheduling.
- The Parameters sheet allows you to see all the parameters used across jobs. You can filter or search for specific parameters to determine which jobs rely on particular inputs, helping you manage changes to these parameters across the repository.
- With embedded hyperlinks throughout the report, you can quickly jump to the associated job or report for detailed inspection. This feature is perfect for quickly locating key information without sifting through multiple sheets or tabs.
