New PowerPoint Feature - Replicating Slides using Parameters

ReportWORQ now supports replicating slides or groups of slides using a ReportWORQ parameter.

For example, if you had a slide that presented sales information for a product but wanted a copy of that slide for a list of products, this can now be achieved using a ReportWORQ parameter.

In ReportWORQ, when a parameter is configured on a worksheet and that parameter value results in a list of items, ReportWORQ will make a copy of the worksheet for each item. The same is true when this worksheet is used by a PowerPoint slide. If the worksheet is copied several times for each parameter item, then the slide will be copied too. If adjacent slides all use the same worksheet, then the group of slides will be replicated and collated together.

For example, if you had an overview followed by a detail slide for each product, and both slides sourced data from the same worksheet which was replicated several times using a ReportWORQ Parameter, then the pair of slides will be copied and collated as a group so that each overview slide remains followed by its adjacent detail slide.

In ReportWORQ, a PowerPoint slide can source data from multiple worksheets however it is only possible for one of those worksheets to be replicated. If a slide sources data from multiple worksheets that are replicated, then the process will fail with an error message.

Tutorial Template.pptx (1.0 MB)

Board Deck for New England.pptx (2.3 MB)

The PowerPoint file contains a template slide which references a worksheet in the ReportWORQ Job

The ReportWORQ Job worksheet contains a parameter

The Parameter contains a list of values, which will cause the worksheet and slide to be replicated in the output.

The result is a slide per entity in the ReportWORQ parameter

Just started using this feature today and loving it so far! I was wondering if it were possible for a PPT table to keep the conditional formatting of the data it is grabbing from the Excel template? Or is that something I have to set in the PPT?

@karen.hewitt,

We have an enhancement request for this, but no timeline just yet. We want to be able to support a limited set of formatting, such as text color, background color and font information. Which would be supported in the Text Frame integration. This way we can support showing red negative numbers or Red light / Green light text based on thresholds. Let me know if you have other ideas about conditional formatting use cases and we’ll look to get this on a release sprint in the coming months.

Thanks,
-Andy

I think just capturing the red/green and negative numbers is good! I had a table I wanted in the PPT and it would grab the data correctly and resize it but I would lose the negative numbers being in red.
